About this property
African Breeze is a red-and-white guesthouse on Bowden Park, arranged around a swimming pool with a deck above it and verandas running along most of the building.
A garden path leads past the signage to the entrance and a hall painted red. Everything is on the ground floor and there is accessible parking. Red flowers are bedded along one veranda and palms stand round the pool.
Breakfast among the wicker
Breakfast is served in a room set with wicker chairs and tables, and a lounge opens through doors onto the outside deck. Long covered verandas run the length of the building, lined with wicker seating against mosaic wall tiles, and that is where most guests end up sitting. A kitchenette with a microwave, a kettle and open shelving handles anything you want to make yourself.
Red cushions, teal bedding
Rooms are each done differently: twin beds with red cushions behind French doors, teal bedding under a wall mirror, green walls with patterned covers and a decorative ladder, yellow walls with red-trimmed bedding, pink stripes, twin pink linens beside a loveseat. Several open onto a wooden deck. A welcome tray is waiting when you arrive. Bathrooms are slate-tiled, with walk-in showers, baths, pedestal sinks and bathrobes.
Sail canopies and string lights
Sun loungers line the pool, and a corner plunge pool has steps down into it with umbrellas above. A shaded patio holds loungers and a hammock under sail canopies, and there is a picnic table in a fenced part of the garden. A kettle braai stands on a covered wooden deck. At dusk the poolside lounge is lit with string lights.
Down at the boat club
The Leisure Isle Boat Club keeps a small boat harbour on the lagoon side of the island, with a slipway the public can use. Everything reaches the island over the Armstrong Road causeway and nothing else. If you would rather self-cater, there are houses to cook in.
Who stays
Couples, and families wanting a pool, breakfast made for them and a hammock to lose an afternoon in.

Guests consistently mention
Where it sits is the most-raised subject in our sample and drew no complaints.
Raised in 10 of 21 written reviews. Tone: Mostly positive
Breakfast is raised often and almost always warmly, with one dissenting mention.
Raised in 8 of 21 written reviews. Tone: Mostly positive
Hosting recurs as a theme and was criticised by nobody in our sample.
Raised in 5 of 21 written reviews. Tone: Mostly positive
Worth knowing before you book
Nothing recurring came up as a drawback in this sample.
Themes are counted mechanically from the written reviews in our sample, then described in our own words. A theme missing from either column simply did not recur often enough to report — it is not a verdict either way.
