Founders Keepers - Leisure Isle

Founders Keepers is a self-catering apartment on Founders Road, and what you are really renting is the deck: pergola-covered, laid with sun loungers, a table and an umbrella, facing out over the hills.

A brick-paved driveway runs past the garage to the house, with street parking outside and a plaque beside the door. Solar panels sit on the roof above the balcony railing. The apartment is reached by stairs.

Gas hob, open shelving

The kitchenette is narrow, a gas hob and open shelving with a coffee machine on the counter, opening through to the lounge. The living area has a grey sofa, a coffee table, an armchair and built-in shelving with the television set into it. There is a dining table. Floors are hardwood and tile, and electric blankets are provided for the cold months.

Boat painting, sunflower painting

The bedrooms take queen beds, one against a grey feature wall beneath a framed boat painting, another with a yellow cushion and a sunflower above it. Beds are the extra-long sort, with wardrobes and linen provided. The bathroom has a shower stall, a sink and a round mirror, and there is an additional toilet. Baby safety gates can be put up.

The deck and the braai courtyard

That deck runs under its pergola with wicker chairs, a table and sun loungers, an umbrella over one end, looking across neighbouring rooftops towards the hills. A paved courtyard below holds a built brick braai with a table and chairs among the garden plants. There is a sun terrace as well.

Founders Road and the water

A shoreline walkway opens onto the lagoon and the headland, with a quiet beach and a rocky point further along it. Everything reaches the island over the Armstrong Road causeway. There is more to look at on Leisure Isle.

A couple, or a small family, who will spend the better part of each day out on that deck.
