Knysna Self-catering Holiday Home

A white double-storey house on Kings Way with a dormer window and a picket fence, let whole and self-catering, and considerably bigger inside than the frontage suggests.

The driveway runs up past that fence to the front of the house, with parking on it. The entrance is a frosted glass door at the end of a panelled hallway, opening onto patterned tile and a mirror. This is a house with proper halls rather than corridors between rooms, and the halls are half of what you are getting.

Chandelier over the long table

The dining and kitchen area is open, a long table beneath a chandelier with a sideboard at one end of it. The kitchen is a galley, dark cabinetry with bar stools drawn up along the counter, an oven, a dishwasher and a pantry with shelving for stored food. Next door the lounge has a green sofa and a brown one facing a fireplace mantel, a television on a console and a patterned rug, with sliding doors onto the patio.

Up the stairwell

A tiled hallway leads to a wooden staircase lit by a chandelier hanging the height of the stairwell, with decorative signage along the wall and a landing at the top. There are four bathrooms in the house, one of them with a bath, and toiletries are provided. Family rooms, a washing machine, a tumble dryer and ironing facilities are all part of it.

Kings Way and the island

Kings Way runs through the middle of Leisure Isle, near the small cluster of shops and eating places that serves the island. One causeway, on Armstrong Road, is how you reach the island at all. Pets are allowed here, which narrows the field considerably. Steenbok Nature Reserve lies along the northern shore, free and open at all times, and there are apartments for two or three for smaller parties.

Who takes it

A family, or two travelling together with a dog, who want a whole house with proper rooms and a fireplace in it.
