About this property

Lazy Lagoon is a large four-bedroom house on Powell Road, raised above a garage, with a swimming pool and palm trees on the garden side and a sculpted whale tail standing at the courtyard entrance.

You come in past that whale tail along a courtyard path and through a covered corridor laid with patterned tile. The building is clad in timber slats, with an external staircase up to the door and a garage and workbench below it. Parking is on site.

Mint tiles and a brick fireplace

Tiled splashbacks in mint green and teal, open timber shelving, a freestanding gas range, dark countertops and a dishwasher. A breakfast bar with wooden stools opens onto the living area and a dining table seats six beside sliding doors to the pool patio. There is a lot of sitting space: a beige sectional under large windows, a blue sofa with a rattan armchair, an arched alcove, and a timber staircase climbing past an exposed brick fireplace.

Accent walls, garden doors

Four bedrooms sleep eight and each has taken its own colour — botanical wallpaper in one, blue in another, teal with a dressing table by the window in a third, tan headboards and white wardrobes elsewhere. Most open through French or shuttered doors onto the garden, and one has an en-suite glass shower open behind the bed. The bathrooms run to a freestanding bath, hexagon-tiled walk-in showers and floating black vanities.

The pool and the long table

The pool sits in the garden with a patio and palms around it. A covered patio holds a built-in braai and a long wooden dining table with the water alongside. There is a wooden deck under shaded trees and a covered balcony with white painted railings.

Powell Road and the shore

Leisure Isle is residential and flat, and the Armstrong Road causeway is its only link to Knysna, so nothing passes through on the way elsewhere. For fewer people there are apartments across Leisure Isle.

Room for

A group of eight, or two families sharing who want somewhere everyone can sit apart when they need to.
