Leisure Isle Holiday Home

Leisure Isle Holiday Home is a detached house on George Avenue whose best room is outside: a covered veranda running the length of it, facing a green garden hedged in on every side.

A side garden path leads past those hedges to a gate, and the roofline and chimney show through the shrubs from the road. Parking is on the street. It is all on the ground floor with an entrance of your own.

Bookshelf and a gas stove

The living room has a sofa and a bookshelf, glimpsed through a doorway from the hall. The kitchen corner runs a gas stove with utensils hanging above it, and behind that sit an oven, a dishwasher, a coffee machine, a microwave, a washing machine and a tumble dryer. There is a dining table, a desk and board games. Floors are hardwood, tile and carpet depending where you are standing.

One room, one desk

The bedroom takes a bed, a small desk and a window onto the green. Linen and a wardrobe are provided and a high chair can be produced. There are two bathrooms, one with a mirror, sink and toilet, with a bath and an additional toilet elsewhere in the house.

The veranda and the braai

The covered veranda carries wicker chairs at one end and a dining table at the other, with a television and a built-in braai fireplace set into the wall behind it. A kettle braai stands in a patio corner. The lawn beyond holds two more wicker chairs, bordered by hedges, and there is an outdoor fireplace and a sun terrace.

Riding out from George Avenue

Bicycles can be hired and the island is flat enough to ride the length of. Pets are allowed. The Armstrong Road causeway is the island’s single connection to Knysna. There are smaller self-catering flats for a smaller party.

The right guests

A couple or a small family who will live on that veranda and cook on the braai most nights.
