Lucy's Cottage on Leisure Isle

Lucy’s Cottage is a white cottage on Founders Road, three bedrooms sleeping six, standing across its own lawn behind a white gate set into a garden wall.

That gate carries the house number, and a path curves past flowering shrubs to the door. There is parking. A small white outbuilding stands off the garden path with its door open, and the cottage itself is entirely on the ground floor.

Bookshelf, sideboard, fireplace

The living room has a sofa, an armchair and a bookshelf, and a second sitting room takes pale sofas and armchairs around a bookcase. There is a fireplace. The dining room holds a wooden table with a sideboard against the wall, and the kitchen opens onto a tiled dining area with another table in it. Cupboards, a bread bin, an oven, a dishwasher, a washing machine. A hallway with a console table runs between the lot.

Bay windows and a blue bath

Three bedrooms sleep six, two of them with bay windows: a twin with floral curtains, another with a dressing table and a chest of drawers. There is a room with a large bed and matching lamps, twin beds with wicker chairs on a tiled floor, and a white metal bed frame under patterned cushions. Of the three bathrooms one has a vintage blue bath in it, another a pedestal-style vanity.

Green umbrella on the patio

The patio takes a table, chairs and a green umbrella beside the lawn, and there is an outdoor fireplace, outdoor dining furniture and a sun terrace. The garden path curves on past the flowering shrubs. Board games and children’s books are kept indoors.

Founders Road and the island

The island is flat and residential and the causeway on Armstrong Road is how everything gets across. Steenbok Nature Reserve holds the northern shore, free and open whenever you want it. Compare it against the rest of the island.
